HFACS Error Code (nanocode) Development – WSA will work with your personnel to develop nanocodes for all HFACS categories for targeted work groups. The development of HFACS nanocodes typically takes ½ day per work group, depending upon the complexity of the errors identified and existing human factors database/analysis frameworks. It is assumed that nanocode development will be conducted at your location.

HFACS Pocket Field Guild Customization – A durable, hardbound pocket field guide checklist for use by those using the HFACS framework in the field will be customized for all workgroups using nanocodes developed by WSA and your company. The pocket field guide also includes HFACS interviewing questions, HFIX questions/checklists, and an outline of incident investigation and reporting procedures customized to your company. Copies can be purchased from WSA or limited rights to the electronic version can be obtained.

Database Software – Depending on the needs of your company, there are three software/database options to select from. They include a web-based version, stand-alone desktop version, and/or modifications to existing client software. Each option includes a streamlined HFACS data entry and database development module, a detailed demographics module, and a module that provides tools for basic data analysis, enabling the user to identify simple trends and relationships among HFACS data and other demographic variables.

• Web-based HFACS Software – A web-based version of the HFACS data entry software will be customized to meet your organization's needs. This software uses structured query language (SQL), a computer language designed for the retrieval and management of data in relational database management systems, database schema creation and modification, and database object access control management. SQL has been standardized by both ANSI and ISO.
• Stand-alone Desktop HFACS Software – This software package is intended as a stand-alone basic data entry/analysis package for organizations wanting the power of a database without the need for web-based data entry. The user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) uses the power of Microsoft Access without the need for knowing the ins-and-outs of the program. This software is perfect for small organizations and those with centralized data needs.
• Modifications to Existing Client Software – Many organizations have existing database software or their own information technology (IT) personnel and do not need either the web-based or stand-alone HFACS software. In these instances, we offer on-demand consultation during the modification of your existing software and database architecture to accommodate HFACS data.
